Patient Testimonials

As a 5th grade girl starting at a new school, bedwetting was a serious social problem for my daughter. We were very fortunate that Howard Bennett had the time, the talent, and the interest in working with her to solve this problem. He did a wonderful job educating my daughter and motivating her to buy into a program I wasn't sure she'd want to try. In a few short weeks, she was well on her way to conquering the problem. Becoming dry was a huge turning point for her and a big part of growing up was being able to put this chapter behind her. Dr. Bennett's method worked quickly and made her feel good about herself again. We are forever grateful.

Waking Up Dry

We wanted to let you know how happy we are wih the way your bedwetting program worked. My son, who is 8, really wanted to be dry and was so happy to become a member of your "team". While we tried on our own for a couple of years to resolve this issue, it wasn't until we started with you that he could succeed. We actaully were amazed at how quickly he went from being wet night after night to being dry! We thought it would take months and so much work, but in our case we were really lucky as it worked like magic. Thanks so much for your help and we hope others who have this issue, will turn to you (or your book) as it worked so well for us.

Waking Up Dry

We were the concerned parents of an 8-year-old who could not stay dry at night, and were lucky enough to experience Howard Bennett’s Waking Up Dry program first-hand when he treated our son in his office. Dr. Bennett offered us not just a practical, clinically-effective method to help our child wake up dry—although he certainly did that—but a complete program that addressed our child’s emotional needs, that put our child at ease and in charge, and that demystified bedwetting for all of us. We followed the program, one step at a time, and gradually grew hopeful. That was over 3 years ago and he has woken up dry every night since. Now, Dr. Bennett has outlined his program in a book that displays the same wit, wisdom, and common sense that we know very well from his pediatric practice.

For any child who feels, as our son did, embarrassed about a condition that seems intractable and mysterious, this is the book to read and the program to follow. In language that kids can understand and find appealing, Dr. Bennett explains—with just the right dose of levity—that bedwetting is a condition that is much more common than anyone imagines, that it is not the child’s “fault,” and that it can be conquered with a straight-forward program featuring simple steps and attainable goals.

Waking Up Dry

I was very worried when my son continued to wet the bed every night at 9 years of age. Dr. Bennett explained why children wet at night in a nonjudgmental way and told us that the problem was very common. He motivated my son like an enthusiastic soccer coach and got him fired up to do the Waking Up Dry Program. No fuss, no trauma—and it worked! My son was dry six weeks after we started the program and happily went on his first sleepover.

Waking Up Dry

My 6-year-old daughter enjoyed reading Waking Up Dry and participated enthusiastically in all the activities suggested by Dr. Bennett. I was initially skeptical about whether she could get through a 240-page book about bedwetting. However, the book became part of our bedtime story routine and provided valuable information that helped me and my husband support her as she tried to stay dry all night. Dr. Bennett’s conversational text reassured my daughter that other children shared the same problem and encouraged her that she could become the boss of her body. She giggled as we read about the adventures of cartoon superheroes, Bladderman and Nephron, and she loved earning rewards for completing different parts of the program. My daughter became dry about 8 weeks after we started the program and has been dry ever since.

Waking Up Dry

When our son was 10 years old, he become self-conscious about his bedwetting. Dr. Bennett’s enthusiastic approach helped him understand two important things. First, that bedwetting was common for children this age, and second, that because he was such a deep sleeper, his brain needed to be trained to pay attention to his bladder during the night. We were doubtful that our son would wake up in response to the bedwetting alarm. However, after several weeks of working with Dr. Bennett, he started having dry nights. By the time the program was done, he had learned to either wake up in response to a full bladder or wait until morning to go to the bathroom. The Waking Up Dry Program was straightforward and, most importantly, it worked!
